Fantastic news for Banger Films from Newfoundland. The Iron Maiden documentary Flight 666 has won the 2010 Juno award for Music DVD of the Year !!!
Bloody amazing news from the little rock in the east. Congratulations Sam and new dad Scot and the entire Banger Films crew who withstood some grueling road miles with one of the hardest working and nicest bunch of guys tripping around in Ed Force One!
Be sure to leave your feedback and congratulate all involved with this amazing new look into the road life of Iron Maiden. Thanks guys for doing an incredible job.
Little update from the carpet. Quote from Sam found on the pages of http://jam.canoe.ca = “I wore my Rush Caress of Steel shirt because I thought Rush were going to win,” said Dunn, whose next film is the Rush documentary Beyond the Lighted Stage.
Funny one Sam.

Breaking News! There is a lot of chatter circulating around the premiere of the new documentary from producers Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn. Well you heard it here first! “Rush: The Biggest Secret in Music” is to have its Global Premiere on May 18th at the Siberian Music and Film Festival 2010. The city of Khanty-Mansiisk will transform into a hub of documentary film virtuosity as the Sprit of Fire film competition enters its 8th year in production.
Sam Dunn and Scot McFadyen are speechless with excitement over finally breaching the news and state that the band will of course, be in attendance to launch their film with the Banger Films crew.
Scot Mcfayden and Sam Dunn Windsor Film Festival Interview
by Admin on Dec.07, 2009, under Banger Films
So I was recently alerted of this interview and came across a post from a blogger named Tom Lucier from Windsor, Ontario where recently, Sam and Scott took part in some Q and A as part of the annual Windsor International Film Festival. Here’s what the festival had to say about the lads:
Filmmakers Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn in attendance
It’s already been five years since filmmakers Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn, WIFF’s first set of guests at its inaugural festival, were here to debut their much acclaimed documentary Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey. It was a helluva good time for all involved — for the audience, for them, and for WIFF — setting a successful and encouraging precedent for us to further develop a festival program centred on the experience of direct audience interaction with Canadian film industry professionals.
To mark our fifth kick at the film can, we’ve invited Sam and Scot back to Windsor to discuss what they’ve been up to since the influential Metal hit big — a worldwide fan favourite which spun off other great films like Heavy Metal in Baghdad and Anvil! The Story of Anvil. They followed it up with the ambitious and far-reaching Global Metal (2008) and amazing Iron Maiden: Flight 666 (2009), and just wrapped up the hotly-awaited doc on Rush, the heavy Canadian prog-rock giants. They are also working on a VH1 series currently under development.
As part of their night in Windsor, they’ll be showing some choice clips and sneak peeks to accompany what promises to be a lively discussion filled with fascinating anecdotes and informative insights. Metal fan or not, don’t miss this rare opportunity to engage with two of Canada’s (and the world’s) most promising and prolific music documentary filmmakers.
Anyhow, Sam and Scot gave a super candid and hilarious interview with Tom which he recorded and posted on his blog. See who can be the first person to leave a comment here telling me how Scot described one of the meanings of the word ‘Banger’ from Banger Films.
